The future is left to God

As an investor, I can honestly say that I don't know how the future will turn out to be. What I can only hope for is that the future is for the better and not for worse for civilisation. One can only imagine what it would be like in 10 to 20 years time.

We live in a world where materialism is at its peak. People are getting more selfish by the day. However, there is still hope left in this world for a selfless world to exist. Everybody wants what is good for them nowadays. The truly wonderful people who would give up themselves are rare, they still exist in today's population, but are slowly declining. People in general think of themselves first before they think of others, and the spirit of the united neighbourhood is slowly diminishing. Yet, civilisation is advancing and the earth is becoming more and more technologically ept.

We are travelling using cars and planes nowadays. But who knows what holds for us in the future. Maybe we will be travelling by means of flying cars and teleportation, given the need for space in the ever growing population of the world. We depend alot on oil and minerals in the ground as the main inputs in this era of global industrialisation. What happens when our main inputs are diminished? I personally think that it would not be the end, instead that would be an alternative for them either by invention or discovery.

One good way of learning about the future is by studying history. Put yourselves in the shoes of someone who was living in 1929, when the great crash had happened. It was almost impossible to imagine how much the world would have progressed by then in just a matter of 79 years. So much has happened. Cities were built, communication has changed, and we now have the Airbus in the skies. Now lets be conscious of our position in the world in our year currently 2007. What do you think the future in 79 years time hold for us? Definitely lots of changes will occur, but what is the right word to use.

I honestly think its of no use trying to guess and give random shots at what's going to happen in the future, for we all have no clue whatsoever. My call goes to forecasting the future, which is uncertain. We should all stop wasting our time forecasting for what we guess about the future may just be 360 degrees to our answers. Why put so much energy into trying to predict something we cannot be sure of? I'll tell you what we can do. As investors, we can take care of our downside and our upside will take care of itself.
